How to print on a Non Samsung Printer on your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 running Android 4.1.  Before you purchase a solution, search for your printer manufacturer on the Google Play store.  A lot of them HP, epson, Lexmark, Brother all have apps in the market to make available some printing options, some more sophisticated than others.  However Canon wasn't one of them.  They only enable photo printing.

To print directly from a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to a Samsung printer, it is easier than printing from a computer.  No drivers to set up.  It just works.  You just need a micro USB 5-pin USB OTG cable.   For a non Samsung printer, you have to get a 3rd party app.

If all fails, there is a robust and simple solution.  But for an app, it is kinda pricey, but if you need to use this a lot, it seems to work great.  Try a sample page before you buy.

There are other print modes such as bluetooth, network, or wifi, but I didn't have the option to test them during this time.
