When you got the Android 4.1.2 update, it may have come with the setting to keep the wifi on during sleep and that may be causing the battery to drain faster than you are used to on your Samsung Galaxy Note 2.  The solution is to set the Wifi On During Sleep setting to never.  The downside is your data plan may be used to handle push notifications.  But if you are travelling internationally and you are relying on wifi for your dada because you do not want to roam internationally, you want to do the opposite.  You want to set this setting to Always but the downside is your phone will experience an additional 1-2% battery drain per hour when you are not using it. But if you rely on timely push notifications it will be worth it.
